Tasmania Trip Saga: PART 1

Went to Tasmania during the holidays for 5 days. Its was really a rash decision we've made, to go to Tas. It was like "OMG let's go to Tasmania!" and 2 hours later we bought our air tickets. And the trip is like, next week. The deciding process was so swift that it doubled the excitement. Anyway, nothing much to say about the pre-trip period.

We took the cheapest airline, JetStar, cos' we're cheapos. And taking Jet Star is like taking a bus trip, we didn't arrive heaps early like what my parents normally do back in M'sia. Us teenagers, just don't like to wait and take everything for granted, ya' know? Just go there, check in, scan scan luggage, wait another 10 minutes or so, then board the plane. Wow, super efficient. JetStar vs. AirAsia - 1:0. Pwn-ed.

Plane trip took 2 hours, and i almost puked though i only stayed awake for like, uh, 15 minutes? (Something must have gone wrong with my balancing mechanism in my ear. Suxor. No cure? Any med students reading my blog? Remedy pl0x.) Then we reached Tas, took a mini bus kinda thingy to the casino, supposed to be a 20 minutes trip but since ours was the last stop, we ended up there an hour later. Sien. Another puke-inducing ride.

Oh ya, i went to Tasmania with Viv and met up with other Adelaide Pharmacy friends who went there from Melbourne. And we all stayed in Viv's ex-schoolmates' apartment. 9 of us in a one-room apartment. ^^

*Photos of events are not sorted according to time sequence.

The FoodMy very first meal, taken in the casino. Its fish and chips btw. I know it looks like all potato wedges. But no, believe me, its fish and chips.

The middle plate, Xin Yee 2's tempura prawn. Yes, there's a 2nd Xin Yee among us. It's Xin Hui's (our female host) younger sister who is younger than me by a few months. But she looks like a friggin' 16-year-old. Or maybe, i look like a 22. One way or the other, i just look 3 years older than her....Damn the permed hair!

Viv's oyster she had on the day before we headed back to Adelaide. Yuck. Raw sumore. Gross! Seriously. And raw food damages your brain. I must confess, i made this up.

Tasmania's so cold it's not funny (quoted from Linda). Max temp was 7 d.c. and min 3 d.c. when we were there. So cold x2 that i didn't even realise when my bi shui "nose water" (mucus? the watery textured kind) dribbles. Only had I slept with 5 tops on and 2 pairs of pants and socks, 2 quilts and a electric blanket, plus 2 body heat generators, Siaw Ek and Tun Wei, i felt warm. If i were to do this in M'sia, wow, i might as well kill myself before being baked to death.

During the journey to Port Arthur

On the 2nd day, we rushed our way to Port Arthur. In a rush cos' we need to catch a 2.30pm cruise tour provided in Port Arthur. And with 9 people and 1 bathroom, it's technically impossible to take off early. Even when we were having breakfast in Hungry Jacks, Stanley (the male host) kept telling us to eat faster. "Kuai dian chi! kuai dian chi! Kuai diannnnnnnnnnn!" Walao, you want me to choke to death meh. I don't want to die to a bacon burger....

Anyway, on the way, we passed through this bridge-like road. I don't know if its a river, lake, sea or canal we're crossing. Tasmania is surrounded by so much water and so i was really confused. But i think, its sea water. Don't know laa... And again, we took all these photos very hastily.

See la, keep rushing us! Cannot take nice picture already!! My eyes closed sumore, RAWR! -__-''' I look like a retard.

Although a picture speaks gao 1000 words, but i think all these pictures really are just a small little fraction of that we saw. I mean, the intensity of the beauty i see with my eyes versus the superficial pictures you see here. Get me? So yea, Tasmania is really, a must-go. See, even the route to a destination also so nice.

Eaglehawk Neck

This is a another place we stopped by on our way to Port Arthur. I was so soundly sleeping when suddenly everyone else in the car screams and got all hyped up. WTF indeed, i thought there was an accident or a Tasmanian Devil got hit by the car. Mana tau, its just they saw this really nice beach and started screaming for the driver aka Siaw Ek to stop. Hurm, in fact, Siaw Ek was one of the screamers.

But it's really a very pretty beach. You guys will sure say, cheh, Malaysia's beaches nicer. However, whatever that is not ours, it's better. Okay? Back to Eaglehawk, What's so awesome about it was that huge waves kept hitting the shore. Over and over again, ceaselessly. And its a very very long stretch of a arch-shaped shoreline. How i hope i had an extra 10 minutes to just sit there and look at the sea. We weren't even there for 10 minutes, for fuck's sake, and had to move on with the journey.

Special featuring: Siaw Ek and Xin Yee.

Port Arthur

Finally, Port Arthur, after all the rushing and sleeping. This place is apparently the main tourist attraction in Tasmania, apart from the Tasmanian Devil. If you didn't go to Port Arthur while visiting Tasmania, then you're da noob please come to Tasmania again. Its actually a place where convicts of the British colonies are being sent to. Although it has a fancy name to it. It's pretty much, a prison where the prisoners were there to serve as slaves and work their asses off to feed....the royals maybe? Not sure, the earnings made here were most probably sent back to the Brits.

The Cruise
Thanks to the rush, we were just in time for the 2.30pm cruise, which i must say, is kinda disappointing. Go to New Zealand and pick any one of the cruise there and it'll surely be heaps better than this. Btw, i'm not generalizing all Australian cruise ya? Peace! But, i don't know, maybe the whole point of this cruise is not about the scenery. Perhaps they just wanted us to imagine ourselves as convicts being sent to Port Arthur.

The cruise trip wasn't really that interesting cos' i was trying hard not to get seasick. You know, uh, my ear.

OK, i'm going to end this post abruptly cos' i really can't be bothered to give it a proper ending. Oh wait, it's not suppose to have an ending! What am i talking abouttttt?

Anyway, here you go. I blogged. >.< style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">
